2021 Update

It’s been 12 months like no other and I’ve been remiss about adding updates here. Since September, when schools were allowed back, I, like many musicians, have just been keeping my head down and getting on with the work that came my way and felt fortunate to have things to do. I was very lucky to have regular work at St. John the Divine Kennington, the London Youth Choir and my new post at the University of Essex Choir. We’ve all been learning zoom and Final Cut, I’ve done lots of filming and recordings in church when we were allowed.

It felt nice to reflect on this today as I was in Spitalfields recording some Rameau with the Dunedin Consort. Although there was no audience and there were multiple takes, it was the closest to normal that I had felt for quite a time.

We also released this recording of Canticle II today, recorded with Fran and Dylan in Kennington in February. See embedded below here.

Thanks to everyone for their overwhelming support of the psalm project that was going strong this time last year. It was lovely to hear from so many people around the world and to see from the youtube stats that they are still being watched and played in virtual services today.
